EASTERN ONTARIO SCHOOLS CHESS CHALLENGE

SUNDAY - APRIL 9, 2017 | Frontenac Mall Kingston. 1300 Bath Road

Chess'nMath Association Ontario Qualifiers Tournament

This tournament is open to ALL students Grade 1 to 12 who know how to play Chess.

� Students in grade 1 to 8 play against other students in the same grade.
� Students in grades 9 to 12 will be combined in one or two sections if required.
� All students play at least 5 games.

LOCATION: Frontenac Mall Kingston, 1300 Bath Road Kingston On. K7M 4X4

REGISTRATION: at front doors 10:15 a.m. To 10:45 a.m. Players briefing starts at 11:00 a.m. All students then play 5 games. Finishing about 2:30 p.m. Please note: Students will only be supervised while they are playing chess.

LUNCH: there will be a break for lunch after Round 2. Food and drinks can be purchased at restaurants around Mall, some restaurants providing event discounts.

EVENT: Top scoring players may be required to play additional play-off games to determine qualifiers for the ONTARIO CHESS CHALLENGE. We can send 1 student in grades with up to 10 players, 2 students in grades with 11 to 20 players, 3 students from grades with 21 to 30 players, and 4 students from grades with over 30 players.

AWARDS CEREMONY: Approximately 4:30 p.m. Medals � will be presented to top students in each Grade, once the play-off games are finished.

RATING: a numerical rating will be calculated for each player, so that they can compare their level of play to that of other students across Canada. - These ratings will be posted on the Chess'nMath website at http:/www.chess-math.org

ENTRY FEE: $15.00 per student, 13.00 per student presenting pre-qualifier sheet at registration desk Sunday morning. Fee payable in cash, or cheque made payable to "Chess'n Math Association".

EQUIPMENT: students should bring their own chess pieces, if they are not fragile, boards will be provided. Some chess sets can be borrowed at the tournament. Parents and guests are requested to bring their own chairs, seating of some kind.

HELP WANTED: to set up chess boards Sunday morning, day of tournament 10:00 a.m. Also helpers to keep track of results in each grade, easy and fun work.
